Mele Kalikimaka!

As I sit here and type this, I am truly excited. For tonight I will be participating in what has become a fabulous tradition among the Arnolds and friends when we have our annual viewing of "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation"... Yes, I know... I need a life.

But who can't relate to the hilarious blend of kooky family, holiday commercialism, and chaos that this movie embodies. Clark Griswold's naive, unwavering commitment to holiday sentimentality has become a trademark of his character. He deeply desires an old-fashioned family Christmas, but everything, I mean EVERYTHING seems to work against that goal. I can sympathize with his frustration as he slowly begins to realize how futile his attempts are amid a barrage of chaos and family freakdom.

However, all of the mayhem makes for a hilarious movie, and if you haven't seen it (which I really doubt), please do. It's become a tradition in our home. For those of you who have seen it, you will probably smile when I wish you Mele Kalikimaka!

Until next time... B
